Time to Schralp!
“This is Ron Funk. He’s 33 years old and has never held a permanent job. His whole life has been dedicated to the sport of skiing. He would rather ski than do just about anything...” Come take a run with Mr. Funk in Dick Barrymore's classic 1967 film Last of the Ski Bums. |

Warren Miller's HEADSTAND SKIING
Sadly, the pioneering filmmaker Warren Miller passed away last week (January 24, 2018) at the age of 93. His 500 plus films were full of action, adventure and humor. His old ski buddy Klaus Obermeyer reminisced that, "Warren got more people into skiing than any person ever did." Ever since first strapping on a pair of skis at the age of 11, he was chasing freedom on the side of a snowy mountain. So Warren, thanks for being a great ambassador and sharing with us the skiing way of life. |
SNOWBALL EXPRESS
Disney is not known for producing cult ski classics but this little ditty is just that. Filmed in and above Crested Butte in the early 70s, it's sure to become a family favorite. |

007. Bond. James Bond.
I love this movie for a lot of reasons. One is that Telly Salvalas makes such an evil villain. For years, there use to be a cloth banner of Telly sucking on his lollipop at the North Face Poma on Crested Butte Mountain. On each lap he wished us all a "Who loves ya, baby?" as we headed up to ski the pow. |
